The 'Great Spanish Gala' was held to mark the 40th anniversary of the twinning between the cities of New York and Madrid, and was the first event co-produced by Carnegie Hall and the Teatro Real of Madrid and sponsored by Management Solutions, one of its main patrons
The event included two concerts in New York: a flamenco recital called "Authentic Flamenco" that was held at the Ángel Orensanz Foundation, and a concert at Carnegie Hall entitled "A Celebration of Spanish Music", in which Mr. Javier Perianes (piano), Ms. Sabina Puértolas (soprano) and the Teatro Real´s Resident Orchestra – conducted by Mr. Juanjo Mena, performed pieces by great Spanish opera and zarzuela composers such as Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz and Federico Chueca, which captivated an audience that included professionals from our New York office as well as some clients. The event, which also featured a gala dinner, was presided over by Queen Sofía and was attended by Mr. Eric Adams, Mayor of New York, Mr. José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, as well as Mr. Gregorio Marañón, President of the Teatro Real, among other authorities and prominent business people.
